For the Act places specific duty of care provisions squarely on the shoulders of Supervisors and front-line Managers with heavy penalties and potential jail sentences for non-compliance.
To be sure, in the event of a prosecution, strict liability has been modified by allowing the employer to use as a defense the grounds that he has "taken every precaution reasonable in the circumstances".
What does this course provide?
Participants will learn about the duties and responsibilities they have under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the concept of due diligence. Participants will also receive instruction on the requirements of the Internal Responsibility System and on techniques that can be implemented to help an organization establish Due Diligence.
