Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

As a worker, you have the right to know about the hazards of chemicals used in your workplace and as an employer you must ensure your employees understand the those hazards. Laws across Canada require chemical suppliers and your employer to provide you with information about hazardous products and how to protect yourself. WHMIS applies to products specifically for use in workplaces.

What does this course provide?

Participants will receive instruction on the six(6) classes of WHMIS products and eight(8) symbols, supplier labels, workplace labels and how to read/use a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet). Participants will also receive instruction on recommended controls when using WHMIS products commonly found in most workplaces.

Who Should Take this course?

All employees who may be exposed to hazardous substances in the workplace.
